In Europe and world-wide, Industrie 4.0 and smart manufacturing designate well-known concepts. They describe optimized networked engineering and production with the objective of delivering smart products by means of digitalization. Very often heterogeneous systems have to be interconnected in this context, and therefore interoperability challenges for system and data engineering are coming up. Furthermore, energy and resource management is taking an increasing role as climate change is one of the biggest challenges that the planet is facing.

• How may the Industrial Internet of Things both improve performance and energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions?
• How can we protect digitalized production systems from cyber threats?
• How can artificial intelligence be efficiently integrated in order to enable better and informed decision making?
• How can we best integrate human workers in these emerging new production environments?

The headline of the conference is “Energy and Industry of the Future” including the following topics:

• Energy management
• Industrial IT Security
• Artificial intelligence and decision making
• Role of humans  in networked and smart factories (human machine interaction)
